Welcome to Petrova Chocolates

a small, woman-owned business nestled in Boston.
From our East Boston kitchen, we handcraft every chocolate using only the finest ingredients, curating seasonal flavors that celebrate creativity and craftsmanship. Our North End boutique is where chocolate meets wine, featuring not only our award-winning confections but also a carefully chosen selection of Natural Eastern European wines, paired to share a taste of our heritage. Beyond treats and tastings, we host wine events, pairing experiences, and pop-up workshops with other local creatives, making our boutique a gathering place for discovery and community. Whether you’re looking for a special gift, a memorable pairing, or a unique experience, we’re excited to share our love for chocolate and wine with you.

At our boutique, we are committed to supporting cacao farmers by using only direct and fair trade cacao sourced from growers in Ecuador and other select single-origin locations around the world, as well as working with bean-to-bar makers in the country. This ensures the highest quality beans for our chocolates, while also fostering fair practices that empower farming communities and protect the environment.

Our commitment to farmers

What truly sets us apart is our dedication to sourcing locally whenever possible. We partner with local farmers and dairies, ensuring that the produce and dairy in our creations are as fresh and sustainable as possible. We believe that exceptional chocolate starts with exceptional ingredients, and that's why our small-batch production is free from artificial flavorings.
Every bonbon we create showcases the natural richness of its ingredients, providing our guests with an authentic, handcrafted chocolate experience.

Like a fine dining restaurant, our menu changes with the seasons to highlight the available ingredients. Each visit offers a new opportunity to discover exciting, seasonal creations, ensuring that your experience is always intriguing, unique, and crafted with care.

At Petrova Chocolates, we believe every chocolate has a story—and the same is true of wine. That’s why we curate a small but thoughtful selection of natural and Eastern European wines, chosen for their unique character and their ability to pair beautifully with our bonbons and confections. These bottles aren’t available online, but you can discover them in person at our North End shop. Stop by, taste, and let us guide you toward your new favorite pairing.

We’re proud to offer the largest selection of Bulgarian wines under one roof in Boston, alongside carefully chosen bottles from Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Greece, and Georgia.

Many of these wines highlight indigenous grape varieties rarely seen in the U.S., offering a chance to explore ancient traditions and new flavors. We focus on natural wines—crafted by small producers using minimal intervention, native yeasts, and sustainable vineyard practices—because they allow the true character of the grape and terroir to shine. Unlike mass-produced wines, which often rely on additives and heavy processing, natural wines are vibrant, expressive, and deeply tied to the land and people who make them. Just as with our chocolates, every bottle tells a story, and we’re excited to share those stories with our community.

Eastern European Natural Wines

" Hi! I am Betty Petrova, the founder behind Petrova Chocolates. My culinary journey commenced at the age of 14 within the realm of the restaurant industry, an enduring passion that has always held a profound place in my heart.

In the quaint setting of my hometown, Plovdiv, Bulgaria, my family owned a small restaurant where I dedicated my school summer breaks to the kitchen, assisting my mother. It was during this period that the seeds of my culinary ardor were sown. My educational path led me to the pursuit of excellence in the field, with a diploma in Hospitality Management from the Professional High School of Tourism in Plovdiv, followed by advanced studies in Tourism Management at the University of Food Technologies. My voyage brought me to Boston, Massachusetts in 2015, where I embarked on a culinary adventure, laboring in diverse restaurant kitchens across the city. UNI became my culinary home, where I honed my skills, specializing in the art of sashimi preparation and crafting delectable plated desserts for the restaurant's dessert menu.

Founder/Chocolatier

My devotion to chocolate led me to seek knowledge and mastery through attendance at various chocolate classes and workshops across the United States, studying under the tutelage of globally renowned chocolatiers and pastry chefs. In my leisure hours, I am an avid traveler, indulging in the culinary wonders of Europe, which I later infuse into my own chocolate creations.

The culmination of my aspirations materialized in the summer of 2020 when I created Petrova Chocolates. This venture is not merely a business but my artistic outlet, one that I meticulously oversee from the inception of each chocolate to managing our social media presence and handling the shipment of your cherished orders. My mission is to craft chocolate bonbons distinguished by unique flavor profiles, enticing individuals to explore novel and unfamiliar taste experiences, all while delivering the joy that only fine chocolate can provide.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude for accompanying me on this chocolate odyssey and entrusting me with the privilege of satisfying your sweet cravings."
